The Women Empowerment Cell of our institution organized an important awareness session on the “Police Akka” initiative, aimed at enhancing the safety and security of women. The session took place on October 9, 2024, at 12:00 PM, with notable contributions from Mr. Tharmaraj, Inspector of Police, Cheranmahadevi, and Mrs. Parvathi, Sub-Constable, Cheranmahadevi.The “Police Akka” app, launched by the Tamil Nadu Police, serves as a platform for easy and quick communication between college students and the police department, especially in cases of sexual harassment and safety concerns. The police officials provided detailed explanations of the app’s features, emphasizing its role in ensuring women’s safety and offering a channel for students to report issues directly to the police.During the session, Mr. Tharmaraj and Mrs. Parvathi elaborated on various forms of sexual harassment that students might face, both online and offline, and provided guidelines on how to use the app effectively to ensure immediate police assistance. They also educated students on the legal provisions and actions that can be taken to protect themselves and their peers.The session was well-received, with students actively engaging in discussions and raising questions about the app’s use and overall personal safety. Female police officer Mrs. Parvathi offered insightful advice on safety measures and procedures students should adopt to avoid potential risks.
The event began with a welcome address by Ms. Preethi, a second-year MBA student, followed by a felicitation address from Dr. Sundararajan, M-Team Academics.
